Rain Boots & Field Jacket
Christmas is in ONE WEEK! Where did December go?! This whole month has just flown by - really this whole year - I can't believe it's almost 2018. Tucker and I are in the midst of house hunting and as the year comes to a close, we are starting to really buckle down. The whole house-buying process is very stressful and somewhat convoluted; it seems like everyone has some advice to give (and most of it isn't all that useful haha). Anyways, I'll keep you posted if we find anything - I'm getting excited to actually be able to paint walls or hang things with more than command strips when we aren't renting anymore :) Stay tuned!!
Today's outfit was actually something I wore for a day of house tours! Because we are shopping in the winter, wearing waterproof (and warm) boots is critical. We have been trudging around snowy backyards, looking at A/C units and foundations... all things I know very little about. Anyways, these adorable Tommy Hilfiger rain boots are from a few years ago, I wore them to death all throughout college. I wear them with nice thick warm socks to turn them into pseudo-winter boots. Hey, it works! I did ask for some new winter boots on my wish list this year... we shall see ;)
I am wearing these with some classic black leggings. I've already touted my love for Fabletics leggings - these ones are actually lululemon one's from my figure skating days in college. They're comfortable but I do actually prefer my Fabletics ones (and the price point is way better... just saying). On top, I'm wearing a long purple tunic-style turtleneck. It's not that thick, so I often wear it under bulkier vests or with a big scarf, for warmth and some volume in the outfit. I like that the purple in the sweater matched my socks ;)
The real feature of this outfit is the J.Crew Field Jacket. I see these all over the place, I got mine this past fall and wear it ALL THE TIME. It's my go to fall/spring jacket. I love that it's army green, so it's interesting but still neutral. The gold hardware is gorgeous and gives it a little bit of a pop. This same jacket comes out in a couple different colors every year, but this army green color is generally available. To pull the whole outfit together, I am carrying my Birdie & Viv leopard print clutch that I adore. The gold hardware here coordinates with my jacket, and it provides a little bit of fun pattern and texture. Overall, this outfit is pretty basic and simple, but warm and chic enough to wear just about anywhere this season.
