Back to Work | Business Formal to Kick Off the New Year
Is anyone ever really "ready" to go back to work after vacation? I have had a great week off of work, the first in a long time that I wasn't travelling during my vacation time as well. It was a week filled with family, friends, relaxing, and a lot of "getting stuff done" as well. We are in the inspection period with our house, which is really exciting but also stressful. Last week, we had a traditional inspection done (which went great, yay!) and also had a sewer inspection completed. Our new home is in a pretty old neighborhood (the house itself was built in 1912!) so apparently it's common to have sewer pipe problems - thank goodness our realtor knows the area. This inspection turned up a shifted pipe under the property that is the owners responsibility - so we're working on another round of negotiations, estimates to fix it, etc. Although it's definitely daunting, I have a good feeling about all of it - Tucker & I can't wait to get in there!!
In an effort to get ready for next week and back to work, I shot a more business formal look for today's post. I've had this blue patterned dress in my closet for a while but haven't pulled it out recently. It's a really soft, cotton blend that washes well and doesn't really wrinkle which is awesome. These pictures turned out pretty Christmas-y due to the holiday lights in the trees, but I'm not going to fight it ;)
I love when I can mix blue and black - it's sometimes tricky to pull off. This dress has a mix of royal blue, navy, and black in the pattern, which plays off the blazer. I've also worn this dress with a navy blazer or sweater as well. These kind of mix-and-match pieces make getting dressed for work so much easier! Realizing I didn't take any pictures of this dress without the jacket, but it has a three-quarter sleeve so it also works for fall or spring, or even into summer without tights.
As far as accessories, I went with a simple pair of black tights and black suede kitten heels. These shoes have been worn to death and I definitely need to replace them haha. They are so comfortable and go with everything! For my jewelry, I'm wearing oversized pearls, some basic silver cuffs, and this gorgeous druzy ring from The Silver Loft - I'll talk about that in a second. For final touches, I have a dark pink lipstick on and some bright red nail polish.
The Silver Loft sent me a few pieces in the past couple weeks and I have been wearing them non-stop - keep your eyes out for more. This pretty silver druzy ring has a touch of pink making it very feminine and delicate. I really like the Silver Loft's collection, as most everything is customizable. From printing your name, a date, or a favorite quote, to even selecting what color metal or stone you want, everything can be made to your specification. The quality is great for the price - I have really sensitive skin and normally jewelry turns my skin green, but none of these pieces do! Highly recommend their pieces... especially this pretty ring! :)
