Sundress for Work and Play
Hey friends! Today I'm bringing a work to weekend look to the blog - staring this cute striped sun dress. I've had this dress for years and keep falling in love with it every time I pull it out. It's a super comfortable cotton, which is light and breathable for when its sticky outside. I love the high neck and comfortably long hemline, it's super comfortable to wear. I usually wear this with a racerback bralette (or sports bra, yeah that's happened… all about the comf lol). I love the versatility of a dress like this, I can wear it to work for sure. But I've also worn it to events like graduation parties and the like with heeled sandals, and even just casually on the weekends with birks… even over a swimsuit! Having an EASY dress like this on hand is a lifesaver.
I have way too many sun dresses and generally don't wear them to work… until recently! I've been digging out the ones that are long enough and adding more business formal accents to dress them up. Here I've added a structured blazer to businessify (it's a word), or I've added a preppy cardigan, statement necklace, a professional heel, etc. to make the look more work appropriate.
I'm all about reusing what you have - I don't have infinite funds to spend on new clothes and have bigger goals for my $$. Since I finished my closet, I can really see everything that I have in front of me every time I get dressed. I've been able to pull out things I haven't worn in a while and find new combinations in the things I already own. I highly recommend going through your closet (and dresser, and the boxes hiding under your bed…) and really looking at what your already have. I guarantee there are some gems hidden that you haven't noticed in a while!
Although this dress is many seasons old, I've linked some other sundresses that can be dressed up for work... all under $40! I also have a Pinterest board dedicated to sundresses.
